Size & Fit Guide
Choose with measurements, not the size label alone. Use this guide to measure consistently, then compare with the chart for the specific style you are considering.
Start with the product page. A size chart marked Body measurements describes the wearer. A chart marked Garment measurements describes the finished item. They are not interchangeable.
Before you choose
- Check the size information and fit notes for the exact product. The same letter size can differ between styles.
- Choose a well-fitting garment of a similar type, fabric and intended fit. Measure it using the same points listed in the product chart.
- Keep units consistent. One inch equals 2.54 cm. Do not compare a flat width directly with a body circumference.
- If the product has no measurement chart, do not borrow one from a different style. Send us the product name, preferred size and the measurements you want checked before ordering.
For garment measurements, any extra room beyond your body measurement is part of the fit. The amount you prefer depends on the style, fabric and how you want to wear it. There is no single allowance that suits every item.
Only use a US, UK or EU size conversion when it is supplied for that specific style. Model details and measurement tolerances also apply only where stated.
How to measure your body
Use a flexible tape over light, close-fitting clothing. Stand naturally, breathe normally, and keep the tape level and snug without pressing into your body. A mirror or another person can help.
| Measurement | How to measure |
|---|---|
| Bust | Measure around the fullest part of the bust, passing the tape under the arms and around the back. |
| Waist | Measure around your natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso. Do not pull the tape tight. |
| Hips | With feet together, measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat. |
| Head circumference | Follow the bonnet measurement instructions below, using the position where the band will sit. |
How to measure a top or blouse
Lay a similar garment flat, smooth out folds gently, and close any buttons. Do not stretch the fabric. These are garment measurements. Follow the product chart if it specifies a different measuring point.
| Measurement | How to measure |
|---|---|
| Chest width, laid flat | Measure straight across from one underarm point to the other. Record this as a flat width. Double it only when the chart explicitly uses garment chest circumference measured the same way. |
| Shoulder width | Measure across the back from one shoulder seam to the other. Drop-shoulder and raglan styles need their own chart instructions. |
| Body length | Measure from the high shoulder point beside the neckline down to the hem. Use a different start point only if the product chart states it. |
| Sleeve length | For a set-in sleeve, measure from the shoulder seam along the sleeve to the cuff. Raglan and cap sleeves can use different measuring points. |
Compare chest room and shoulder movement as well as length. A loose sleeve does not necessarily mean the body of the blouse has a loose fit.
How to measure knitwear
Lay the knit flat in its natural, unstretched shape. Smooth it lightly without pulling the ribs or stretching the fabric. Measure chest width, body length and sleeves using the top measurement method.
Choose a comparison knit with a similar construction and intended fit. A ribbed knit and a woven silk blouse can have very different ease and stretch.
Do not assume every knit is equally stretchy or choose a smaller size based on fiber name alone. Use the fit notes and any verified stretch information for that style. Never stretch a garment to its maximum as a substitute for its stated measurements.
How to measure a pajama set
Measure the shirt and pants separately. Compare with a pajama set that allows you to sit, bend and sleep comfortably.
| Measurement | How to measure |
|---|---|
| Pajama shirt | Measure flat chest width, shoulder width, body length and sleeve length as described for tops. |
| Waist, relaxed | Lay the waistband flat without pulling it. Measure straight across and record it as a relaxed flat width. Do not assume a stretched waist measurement unless one is supplied. |
| Hips, laid flat | Use the measuring position specified in the product chart. If no position is supplied, ask us to confirm it before comparing hip widths. |
| Inseam | Measure along the inside leg seam from the crotch seam to the hem. |
| Outseam | Measure along the outside from the top of the waistband to the hem. |
A drawstring or elastic waistband does not remove the need to check hip and leg room. Check the shirt and pants together before selecting the set size.
Choose from the sizes offered for the complete set. If you need different sizes for the top and pants, contact us before ordering to check whether this is possible.
How to compare scarf dimensions
Lay the scarf flat without stretching it. Measure along each finished edge to compare length and width; the diagonal is a different measurement.
A square scarf is described by its two sides. For example, a listed 90 × 90 cm square is approximately 35.4 × 35.4 in; “35 inch” may be used as a rounded style description. Always check the dimensions listed for the specific scarf.
Fold a square of paper or a piece of fabric to the listed size to compare coverage before ordering. The way you fold and tie the scarf changes its coverage; a size label alone cannot guarantee a particular head-wrap or shoulder fit.
Read the silk scarf size guide for choosing by use.
How to measure for a sleep bonnet
- Place a flexible tape around your head where the bonnet band will sit: across the forehead, above the ears and around the back.
- Keep the tape level and comfortable. Record the full circumference without pulling it tight.
- Compare with the stated head-circumference range for that particular bonnet. Hair volume and preferred band tension also affect comfort.
The bonnet’s fabric diameter and height describe the item, not the size of your head. Do not use diameter as a substitute for head circumference.
“One size” does not mean every head size. Check whether the specific product has an elastic band or an adjustable fastening; do not assume that an elastic band is adjustable.
Common sizing questions
Are these body measurements or garment measurements?
This guide explains both methods. Each product chart must identify which one it uses. A measurement taken around your body cannot be compared directly with a garment’s flat width.
I am between two sizes. What should I do?
Compare the measurements at the areas that are most likely to restrict movement, alongside length and your preferred fit. There is no universal rule to size up or down. If either choice is unclear, ask us to check that specific style.
My bust, waist and hips correspond to different sizes. Which should I choose?
Check the measurements relevant to the garment: for example, bust and shoulders for a blouse, and both the shirt and pants for pajamas. Do not average size labels; make sure the item allows comfortable movement at the important points.
I prefer a looser fit. Should I simply order a larger size?
Compare the finished measurements with a similar garment you enjoy wearing. A larger size can also change shoulders, sleeves and length, so check those dimensions together.
What if I do not have a soft tape measure?
Use a non-stretch string to mark a body circumference, then lay it straight against a ruler. Use a ruler or tape to measure a garment flat. Repeat the measurement to check consistency.
Why is there no measurement chart for my chosen style?
Some styles do not yet have a verified measurement chart. We do not substitute another product’s chart. Contact us with the product name, size being considered and the measurements you need confirmed before you order.
Can I choose different sizes for a pajama shirt and pants?
Use the options offered for the complete set. Contact us before ordering if you need different sizes so we can confirm whether this can be arranged.
What should I include when asking for sizing help?
Send the product name or link, the size you are considering, your relevant body measurements or a similar garment’s measurements, the units used, and whether you prefer a closer or looser fit. Please identify body circumferences and flat garment widths separately.
